Saboteurs on Saturday targeted the ongoing housing projects in the Capital Governorate and stolen the construction materials and also blocked the roads in the different areas, according to official reports.
“Thugs have stolen construction material to block roads and disrupt the smooth flow of the traffic. Thugs went further in their subversive tactics, intimidating contractors into forcing them to stop work on the projects,” the statement added.
The spate of sabotage targeted particularly the housing projects in Burhama, Sanabis, and Bilad Al-Qadim.
“Last Wednesday, a group of masked saboteurs stole a quantity of blocks and wood being used in building housing units and used them to block roads in Burhama and Bilad Al-Qadim”, the ministry in a statement, said.
The ministry condemned the campaign of sabotage, being orchestrated to disrupt work on housing projects.
It stressed the vital importance of the projects located in Burhama, Bilad Al-Qadim and Nabih Saleh to meet demands on housing units, pointing out the shortage of land in the Capital Governorate.
“This not the first time this systematic campaign of sabotage targets housing projects”, the ministry said, stressing its efforts to take the necessary measures to protect the sites.
It called on concerned authorities and citizens living in the targeted areas to cooperate with the ministry and stave off acts of sabotage.
