The formal opening of $1.8m STGs project has added a new dimension of the ongoing initiatives of improving and modernising the existing infrastructure of Bapco, the Chairman of the board said.
Talking to reporters after the opening of the two Steam Turbine Generators (STGs) Bapco’s Chairman and Acting Chief Executive, Adel Fakhro said that the project where the project would enhance efficiency and reliability of power generation at refinery.
Citing the importance of the STGs he said that the initiative would help in creating a greater power balance of the total consumption of the refinery by using steam turbines to generate more power.
The two STGs will generate total 28 mega watt electricity by using natural gas in the $108 million turbines propelled by a state-of-the-art technology.
This is, Fakhro said, is also in line with the Government’s plans to diversify the resources of power generation to make the entire national grid more efficient and the Al Dur Power Plant is one of the major milestones in this regard.
