The General Director of Crime Detection and Forensic Science announced on Saturday a number of arrests made as a result of follow-up investigations into cases of attacks on police over the past several weeks.
He said that one suspect was arrested in connection with an attack against police in Nabiah Saleh on February 25. The individual was referred to the Public Prosecution while the search continues for additional suspects in the case.
One suspect was arrested in the case of an attack on police that occurred on February 28 in Buri. On-duty policemen were attacked with Molotov cocktails and iron rods. In the attack, one officer was injured and a private car was also damaged. The suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution.
Six suspects were arrested for attacking police in Maghaba on March 27. They were referred to the Public Prosecution.
Two suspects were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution for attacking police with Molotov cocktails and iron rods in Sitra on March 28.
In a case that occurred on April 4 in Sitra in which police were attacked with Molotov cocktails and iron rods, two suspects were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
The General Director said that an individual wanted in the torching of a car in Salmabad near AMA University on April 12 has been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
Two suspects accused of arson, vandalism and the blocking of roads in Dair on April 14 were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
Six individuals were arrested for attacking police patrols in Saar on April 18 and were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The General Director said that a suspect was also held and referred to the Public Prosecution for harboring a wanted fugitive in his home in Nabiah Saleh on April 20.
The General Director concluded by reminding those who engage in illegal act that in every case an aggressive follow-up investigation is conducted to bring the culprits to justice. “It may take a week or a month or a year, but the Interior Ministry is committed to providing the best security for the citizens of Bahrain. The Director said that these arrests send a clear message that criminal activity that endangers the safety of the public and the police will not be tolerated and that all efforts will be focused on bringing those responsible to justice.”
