The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa affirmed that the statements of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei against the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people during the Muslim Scholars and Islamic Awakening conference held in Iran today exceed the bounds of decency between countries.
In a statement today, the minister dismissed the Iranian leaders’ statements as a pack of lies and fallacies as well a deliberate distortion of facts regarding Bahrain.
He slammed the Iranian leader’s stance as a flagrant encroachment on Bahrain’s independence and sovereignty and an inadmissible interference in its internal affairs.
The Iranian leader made the hostile statements as he addressed today a conference held in the Islamic Republic under the theme “Muslim Scholars and Islamic Awakening”.
Shaikh Khalid said that the hostile statements represent an affront to protocol norms governing inter-state relations and a violation of true Islamic precepts known to honest Muslim scholars who have a true Islamic awakening as well as the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
He said that the Iranian leader ignored his country’s shambolic economy and the tragic plight his people who are reeling under the yoke of oppression and injustice, being deprived of their human rights and basic liberties and denied the essential requirements of a decent human life.
The minister described the hostile statements as the compelling evidence that the Iranian instigation and support are fuelling violence and terror in Bahrain.
He deplored the adamant persistence of senior Iranian officials in making such hostile statements which have become unfortunately the core mantra of the Iranian media campaign against the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC states.
The Foreign Minister said that such irresponsible acts only harm Iran, which disregards all values, ideals and principles of Islam and contravene the UN charter and other international conventions on good neighbourliness between states, thus destabilizing the Arabian Gulf region, fueling tensions and threatening global and peace and security.
