The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) supported the 7th Gulf Public Relations Forum which was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister at the Sofitel Zallaq Hotel and Resort. The forum was organised by the Bahrain Public Relations Association (BPRA) and Act Smart Public Relations Consultancy. Bapco was represented by Manager – Public Relations, Naji Ahmed who presented a paper on the Private Sector Institutions Reputation Management (Oil & Gas Sector).
Ahmed spoke about the essential elements to build an institution’s reputation, namely social responsibility, work environment, sense of control, products and services, financial performance and workforce training. He spoke about the international standards and their impacts on reputation, and said these standards are reflected in training, crisis management, social responsibility standards, sustainable development, environment, safety record, quality certificate and HR policies. Mr. Ahmed also reviewed the main challenges faced by industrial companies in the process of building a reputation.
