The Kingdom of Bahrain being the Islamic banking hub in the region has helped the City of London to establish its position as a leading Islamic banking centre in Europe, thanks to the excellent co-operation between the two countries, the President of the Bahrain British Forum said.

“The BBBF has had played a major role by bringing both the private sectors closer especially transferring knowledge and expertise of Islamic banking to City of London and we need to do more in other sectors as well,” Al Zayani said.
“The successful visit of the Mayor of London and signing of the MoU with Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry were few but very strategic moves during the BBBF’s previous board term,” he said.
“The British know how in downstream in aluminium, iron and petrochemical can be of immense help for Bahrain and especially in the above three industries. This two way co-operation will impact the existing trade, business, investments and other relations,” Al Zayani explained.
Talking about his previous term as BBBF Chairman he said that when he assumed the Chairmanship of BBBF there was not a single Bahraini on the board while now the ratio is 50:50. “This forum is called Bahrain British Business Forum and we feel that this platform get Bahrainis onboard to make it a real mix of both countries,” he said.
