Menatelecom has won a court injunction order to be allowed to participate in the 4GLTE Broadband Auction. Menatelecom in a statement said that it was excluded by Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) from participating for unknown reasons.
Later, the TRA-Bahrain issued a decision to postpone the Auction’s submission date; this decision has been taken after the Urgent Matters Court’s Injunction Order to allow Menatelecom’s participation in the Auction.
Menatelecom was surprised by the TRA’s decision to postpone the Auction date indefinitely despite the Court’s Decision.
“In 2007, Menatelecom won the 3.5 GHz spectrum in a fair and transparent bidding process and since then Menatelecom has been a major player in the telecom sector of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and it has injected significant investments amounts,” Menatelecom in a statement said.
“Menatelecom believes that it should be allowed to take part in the Auction and be granted the right to participate as a licensed service provider for telecommunications by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority for mobile and broadband services. This is a natural course for a company that was allowed to participate in the past by TRA.”
“Menatelecom’s entry into this Auction enhances the competition in the market and ensures a larger scale of financial competitiveness by the bidders. It is important to note that this is the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s history that such an Order is issued to eliminate participation in a tender during the final hours of the tender’s closing time.”
