Aamal Company Q.S.C. (Aamal), one of the GCC’s fastest growing diversified conglomerates, has signed an agreement to create a joint venture with Vivantes International Medicine (Vivantes), the biggest hospital group in Germany, to build an outpatient medical centre in Doha.
The contract was signed yesterday at the successful Qatar Berlin Forum by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Aamal Company, and Dr Nizar Maarouf, Vice Director of Vivantes International Medicine, in the presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani and the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit.
The outpatient centre, which will be managed by Vivantes, will offer a clinic with leading doctors in different fields, a diagnosis centre using the most up to date telemedicine technology and visiting professors from Germany to consult with patients in Qatar. In addition, through Al Faisal without Borders Foundation, Aamal will work with Vivantes to open a nursing school in several under-developed countries.
Vivantes is Germany’s largest state-owned healthcare group. It offers international healthcare consulting and management services and is involved in numerous large-scale projects all over the world. In Germany, it has nine hospitals including nursing schools, education centres and the biggest academy for health care management.
“This is a very significant joint venture for us and I am delighted to partner with Vivantes, one of the best medical care providers across Germany and around the world. This centre will contribute to Qatar’s policy of providing high quality, strong health services in our country. This contract is another successful agreement between the Government of Berlin and Aamal Company, building on the already strong mutual business foundations that are in place. I look forward to us working together in the future,” Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Aamal Company, said.
“Vivantes Group is proud of this partnership with Aamal Company. Aamal is the partner of choice for its impressive track record in attracting foreign investments to Qatar. Al Faisal Holding, a major shareholder in Aamal, is considered one of biggest Qatari investors in Berlin, where Vivantes is headquartered. With this investment, the Government of Berlin is looking forward to further cooperation between both countries,” Dr Nizar Maarouf, Vice Director of Vivantes International Medicine, said.
Dr Maarouf visited Qatar last February and met with His Highness the Emir of Qatar and Her Highness the Sheikha Moza. At the meeting, Vivantes expressed great interest in contributing to the development of Qatar’s health care sector.
Also last February, Al Rayyan Tourism and Investment (ARTIC), the international hospitality subsidiary of Al Faisal Holding Company, signed purchase agreements for two hotels in Berlin, Germany. The signing ceremony took place in Qatar in the presence of Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of Aamal Company and the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit.
