HE Finance Minister and Minister in charge of Oil and Gas Affairs Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa on Monday said that opening of the two Steam Turbine Generators (STGs) would enhance efficiency and reliability of power generation at Bapco refinery.
The Minister in a short statement after inaugurating the $108 million two new steam turbine generators (STG’s) at the Bapco Refinery lauded the professionalism of the contractors who completed the project of 1.5 million hours without LTI.
The generators each of 14 megawatt power capacity are fully operational after having passed their Performance Guarantee Tests by the supplier GE and will replace five existing turbine generators which have been retired after more than 40 years of operational service.
The $108 million project, completed within budget was engineered by Technip France (Abu Dhabi) who also provided construction management service to a Bahraini company, the local contractor who provided construction services.
