Public Security Chief, Major-General Tariq Hassan Al-Hassan, on Tuesday chaired an urgent meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee.
The session followed the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Southern Iran, on the borders with Pakistan, and sent tremors throughout the Arabian Gulf states and India.
A total 120 high-rise residential and administrative building were evacuated as a precautionary measure following the quake aftershocks.
All interior ministry departments were put on high alert, including the Civil Defence Directorate, the police departments, the Coastguard Directorate, the General Directorate of Traffic and rescue police.
Police patrols were also out in force to report any cases of panic or injuries. The National Disaster Management Committee was also convened for an urgent meeting in the aftermath of the quake aftershocks.
