In line with the Supreme Council for Women’s mandate to empower the presence of Bahraini women within society, and as part of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Womens keenness to further develop the General Secretariat of the Council, Mr. Khalid Mohamed Al-Khayat has been appointed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa as of April 2013.
Al-Khayat joins the Supreme Council for Women after nearly 26 years of experience. He began his career at the Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), where he was responsible for media affairs, events and community relations from February 1987 to 2005.
Following his journey at Batelco, Al-Khayat joined the Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB) where he became the bank’s Senior Manager Corporate Communications after 3 years of service.
Al-Khayat continued his career path to join Tharawat Investment House immediately after its founding as an Islamic investment Institution, where he held the position of Director Corporate Communication for almost five years.
As for qualifications and training exposures, it is important to note that Al-Khayat holds a number of certificates in public relations and media; the most important of which is a certificate of public relations which he attained at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United Kingdom. In addition to this, he also attended several training courses in and out of the Kingdom of Bahrain including ones in Britain and Egypt relating to press and public relations. Al-Khayat has several previous press contributions, as well as an active presence in the field of e-editing and social media.
The Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women, Hala Al-Ansari welcomed Khayat, expressing her continued optimism and confidence in the young leadership of the Council. Al-Ansari stresses the importance of effective recruitment and training of qualified Bahrainis since human capital, both at leadership or executive levels, is indeed the main contributor to achieving aspired success at the Council.
