Zain, which plans to spend around $200 million over the course of two years on upgrade of its infrastructure, announced the commercial launch of 4G LTE in Bahrain during a Press conference held at Sofitel Hotel.
The Press conference was jointly addressed by Jenson Button, a Grand Prix star, from Vodafone Mercedes McLaren and Zain Bahrain CEO Mohammed Zainalabedin, who highlighted the importance of rolling out 4G LTE by Zain by assuring that Zain would continue to be one of the leading telecom operators in Bahrain.
“Zain will continue to invest in the infrastructure as part of its commitment to the local market and keeping the company as one of the best telecom service providers in Bahrain,” Zain CEO said, adding Jenson Button’s presence during the launch shows a perfect partnership of winning teams.
“Zain has partnered with Ericsson a known leader in the ICT and we will continue to provide best possible and cutting edge technology in 2013 and beyond,” the CEO, added.
About the IPO, the CEO said that it would be a pre mature to discuss about the size and timeframe as once the spade work is completed then management would make the details public.
The launch was also attended by Zain Bahrain’s Chairman Shaikh Ahmed Bin Ali Abdulla Al Khalifa, who in an earlier statement lauded Bahrain telecom sector liberalisation which, according to him, helped Zain Bahrain to lead the sector with innovation and the latest technology as 4G that will have a dramatic impact for the better on the company’s home broadband and mobile services.
“The telecoms sector has been nurtured by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority with care and vision so that Bahrain has developed a competitive market that has seen excellent pricing structure and affordable offers for customers and technological development of the sector that has kept it on par with other leading countries,” the Chairman added.
