National Foundation for Human Rights’ delegation chaired by Dr. Abdulaziz Abel, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners participated in the meeting concerned with following up the implementation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), and the role of the national foundations for human rights in the review process, which was held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
During the meeting, the Head of the Universal Periodic Review Department of the High Commissioner at U.N. presented a brief about the role played by national foundations in providing the parallel reports and following up the recommendations issued at the meeting of the Working Group on the UPR.
The delegation participated as an observer at a meeting of the office of the Coordinating Committee which was chaired by Dr Musa Burayzat, President of the National Council for Human Rights in Kingdom of Jordan, where they discussed a number of reports. One of these reports was the most important, which was the report of the Subcommittee for the adoption of national foundations for human rights, in addition to the financial report and multiple technical and administrative reports.
The delegation included, Dr. Fawzia Al Saleh, the Chairperson of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee, Chancellor Abdul Jabbar Ahmed Al-Tayeb, member of the Civil and Political Rights Committee, and Yasser Shaheen, Director of Legal Affairs at the National Foundation for Human Rights.
