A new board was elected for the two years term during the Annual General Meeting of the Bahrain-German Friendship Society (BDG) and Tareq F A Wafa was elected President, Udo Soicke as Vice President and Mazen Al Umran as Treasurer and Maike Neelsen as Secretary General. Other members are Dr. Tawfeeq Al Moayed, Deema Al Haddad and Abdul Hamid Hatam.
Addressing the members, President Tareq Wafa welcomed the members, honorary members, the German Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission and the representative of the Ministry of Social Development for their attendance.
He stressed on the outstanding attendance at the AGM, which confirmed members’ keenness to support the society and voice out their opinion, ensuring their involvement in its activities and in the implementation of its goals and objectives. He thanked them all for their support to the outgoing board and to the society since its inception in 2000.
Wafa gave an overall view regarding the BDG over the past year and the membership status. The society had successfully fulfilled one of its goals in raising awareness about local society needs by driving its charitable activities forward and success fully delivered the necessary service and support to the needy societies.
Outgoing board member Khalid Turk gave an overview of the 2012 financial account on behalf of the treasurer, the estimated budget 2012, income arising from activities 2012 and membership fees structure. The AGM moved on to elect a new board among 13 candidates who nominated themselves to the board position, where the ministry supervised the ballots count and independent committee volunteered among the society members present at the AGM.
Following the conclusions of the BDG Annual General Meeting the new board members, held their first short meeting to discuss the future activities of the Bahrain German Friendship Society and the roadmap for the remaining period of the year 2013 events and activities which will be announced soon.
