Deputy Premier, Chairman of the Committee on the development of education and training and head of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, inaugurated the 4th International Conference on e-learning, organized by the Zain e-learning Center in the University of Bahrain at the Crowne Plaza Bahrain Hotel.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa underlined the efforts made by the University of Bahrain, stressing that the university is keen to adopt the techniques of modern teaching and promoting its active role in the development process, which a generation of graduates familiar with the latest levels of knowledge.
During the ceremony, the Minister of Education Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Naimi, said that the Kingdom of Bahrain has realized early on great importance of e-learning, so that the University of Bahrain held three conferences in e-learning.
The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Janahi said the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, to this conference reflects the attention paid by the leadership in the field of e-learning.
He said the conference reviews about 110 working papers on European, Arab and Gulf experiences, noting that major e-learning companies and International Publishers in the employment of e-learning are taking part in the conference.
The opening ceremony also included a visual presentation of the US Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, presented by the Honorary President of the Institute in the UAE Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, on the objectives of the Institute and its mechanism and its association with modern techniques.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, handed over Award of the GCC General Secretariat for excellence in the design and development of e-courses as won by six professors: Two professors from the University of Bahrain, and professors from the University of King Khaled, Saudi Arabia, and professors at the University of Kuwait , He also presented plagues to both the key sponsors and speakers, and a commemorative gift to the President of the University of Bahrain in recognition of sponsorship for the conference.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa also toured the exhibition for the conference, which included representatives of the telecommunications, and software technologies companies related to e-learning and learning management companies.
