Nine people accused of involvement in a terror plot early this year have been sentenced from ten to fifteen years in prison, Central Governorate Prosecutor Hamad Shaheen announced today.
The first two accused set up a group illegally with the aim of disrupting the law, preventing state institutions from performing their duties and encroaching on citizens’ personal liberties.
The High Criminal Court convicted the seven other accomplices of joining the illicit cell to perpetrate acts of terror.
The court has also convicted all the accused of possession explosives without permission from official authorities.
They all plotted to use the explosives in attacking the Interior Minister and a public security police camp.
They also plotted to cripple civil aviation by blocked roads leading to Bahrain International Airport and fly giant air balloons near the airport to disrupt air traffic.
