Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) expressed its continuing support for stronger commercial, economic and cultural ties between Bahrain and Europe as it welcomed a seven-member delegation from the European Parliament to the Alba plant.
The European delegation is on a tour of Bahrain to explore facts on the economic, social and cultural strides the kingdom has made, and also, to strengthen areas of cooperation between Europe, Bahrain and the region.
Alba’s Chief Operations Officer, Isa Al Ansari, Acting Chief Finance and Supply Officer, Ali Al Baqali, Senior Manager for Human Resources and Public Relations, Abdul Rahman Janahi and other company officials briefed the delegation on the company’s production growth, global presence of its portfolio of high grade aluminium products as well as commitment to safety and environment.
The European delegation was led by the Chairperson, Angelika Niebler (Germany), and also included Antonio Cancian (Italy), Paul Rübig (Austria), Vicente Miguel Garcés Ramón (Spain), Holger Krahmer (Germany), Ashley Fox (United Kingdom), and Jacek Wlosowicz (Poland).
“Europe is one of the major markets for Alba’s high grade aluminium products and, today, we export nearly 12 per cent of our output to some of the leading industrial houses in the continent. With the setting up of our sales office in Switzerland, we are confident of further enlarging our presence in Europe and strengthen greater awareness of Bahrain as an industrial force,” Alba’s Chief Operations Officer, Isa Al Ansari, said.
“It was also a privilege to welcome the European Parliament delegation and share with them the various measures Alba has taken in developing a safe work environment for employees, and in promoting eco-friendly production processes that have bolstered the company’s reputation as one of the leading aluminium smelters in the world.”
The seven member delegation from the European Parliament was later given an extended tour of the Alba plant, and was also briefed on the company’s environmental commitment, safety policies, adherence to quality, corporate social responsibility and contribution to Bahrain’s economy.
