His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received in the Royal Hall of Windsor Great Park’s endurance racetrack, in the United Kingdom, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom who was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of HM King Hamad and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s attendance of Windsor International Endurance Festival which is being held for the first time at Windsor Great Park.
HM the King welcomed Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and exchanged with her cordial talks on historic and distinguished friendly ties binding Bahrain and the UK which have been based on mutual respect and joint coordination in various fields.
HM lauded the key role played by the UK in boosting international security and stability, stressing Bahrain’s constant keenness to further bolster bilateral relations for the common interest of both countries and peoples.
HM King Hamad and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II watched part of the international 120-km endurance race in which around sixty horse riders from Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, the UAE and France took part.
HM the king earlier arrived at the endurance racetrack where he was welcomed by Captain of the Royal Endurance Team Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Captain of Al-Khalidiya stable Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and senior organising officials of the race.
HM King Hamad met Dubai Crown Prince Shaikh Humdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, during his participation in the race, who conveyed to him the greetings of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as well as his best wishes to HM the King of continuous good health and happiness.
Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid briefed HM the King on the distance and stages of the race and the number of riders taking part in it.
HM the King watched part of the race and lauded the efforts made by Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) in developing the endurance sport which enjoys a great popularity. He also praised the positive results achieved by the Bahraini riders in regional, Arab and international championships.
