His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister met with the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary, William Hague MP in London.
Discussing developments in Bahrain, His Royal Highness outlined the progress made by the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. In doing so, he highlighted the reforms undertaken by Bahrain over many years since the National Action Charter, including the amendments made to the constitution in 2012.
His Royal Highness emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to further reform in line with the principles laid down in the National Action Charter, including strengthening public institutions and through programmes to be implemented by them. His Royal Highness also spoke of the importance placed on the values of accountability, rights and the rule of law in the Kingdom’s ongoing reform project.
His Royal Highness stressed the importance of continued stability and the role it plays in empowering reforms, while highlighting the impact of ongoing violence in undermining progress.
Welcoming the strong bilateral relationship with the United Kingdom, His Royal Highness emphasised Bahrain’s desire to further strengthen ties and co-operation. His Royal Highness also thanked the United Kingdom for its support and commitment to assisting reforms in Bahrain by providing expertise, and expressed his wish for this support to continue and increase in the future.
