The last two years has set a new record in issuance of sukuks worth $137 billion in 2012, according to the International Islamic Financial Market (IIFM).
“The last two years were record years of sukuk issuances reaching $137 billion in 2012 compared with $92.4 billion in 2011,” Ijlal Ahmed Alvi, CEO of IIFM told the the 9th Annual World Islamic Funds and Financial Markets Conference (WIFFMC 2013).
Alvi was addressing the WIFFMC 2013 as IIFM launched the 3rd Edition of Sukuk Report titled a Comprehensive Study of the Global Sukuk Market 2013.
“The year 2013 has also kicked off in a positive manner with sukkuk issuance reaching $1.1billion in January alone and experts believe this trend will yield more positive results,” he added.
