Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab today hailed Bahrain’s press strides under the reform project led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
She stressed guarantees stipulated in the reform project to promote media liberty and freedom of expression in the framework of law and institutions.
In an address marking the World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3, she stressed the atmosphere of openness and freedom in Bahrain, highlighting journalists’ independence in their profession.
She paid tribute to the press community for their crucial role in protecting national achievements and promoting reform and development through constructive criticism and follow-up.
The minister asserted Bahrain’s keenness on keeping abreast of modern press and audio visual and electronic media trends and legislations.
The minister extended congratulations to the Press community, hailed the role of Bahrain Journalists Association and Foreign Correspondents’ Club for their role in promote press cadres.
She expressed Bahrain’s pride in choosing Manama as Capital of Arab Media for 2013 and 2014.
