Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan, in a statement highlighted the importance of the competency and professionalism of police on Thursday in relation to their handling of recent terror attacks.
“This reflects their commitment to the protection of the public and to the security of the nation,” he said.
He said that the sacrifices of policemen throughout the country deserve appreciation and respect. He stressed that the terrorism act in Bani Jamra on Wednesday that targeted policemen is one such example of those sacrifices made to keep the public safe.
The Chief announced that the leg of one of the injured policemen who was involved in the blast was amputated during surgery, while two other officers sustained serious injuries. The other injured officers were treated for minor injuries and discharged from hospital.
The Chief said that acts of terrorism won’t deter policemen from performing their duty to protect the security and stability of the nation. He said that they will continue to investigate acts of terrorism, identify the perpetrators and to bring them to justice.
