The Committee on Cooperation between the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and other Women Societies and Committees have welcomed the positive interaction with the Bahrain Women’s Day 2013, due to be themed “Women and the Media”, praising the SCW’s proposals regarding the events to be held of its sidelines.
This came as the Secretary-General of the SCW Hala Al-Ansari chaired, at the SCW’s premises, the Committee meeting in which the SCW’s Secretariat-General’s reports on areas of cooperation, programmes and initiatives aiming to advance Bahraini women.
Al-Ansari explained that the theme of this year’s Bahraini Women’s Day will provide an opportunity to shed light on women’s situation in the media, as well as the challenges facing them in such a field.
The panel reviewed the national efforts which supported women’s participation in such a vital sector and discussed ways of consolidating Bahraini women’s role as a main partner in the sustainable development march.
The Cooperation Committee also confirmed its participation in the second national conference of the Bahraini Women, set to be held in October 2013 under the theme: “Integrating Women’s Needs in Comprehensive Development Programmes”, in implementation of its decision to hold a conference on Bahraini women every three years.
It is worth noting that Cooperation Committee was established following the cooperation meeting held at Al-Rawdha Palace between Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the SCW, and women societies and NGOs.
