Seven people accused of killing Ahmed Salim Al-Dhufairi will appear before the High Criminal Court on June 18, 2013.
An underage accomplice involved in the same case will also stand trial separately on June 4, 2013, Chief Prosecutor Ahmed Al-Dosary announced.
They all stand accused also of attempting to murder another person by detonating an explosive. The Public Prosecution has also issued warrants track down the unidentified accomplices who are still at large and take them in custody pending trial.
The accused blocked the roads and planted explosives in a pile of tyres in premeditated acts to lure policemen and lay an ambush for them with the intent of killing them.
The accused detonated the explosives, caused the death of late Ahmed Salim Al-Dhufairi who succumbed to his burns, while his colleague was rushed to hospital to undergo medical treatment.
The Public Prosecution inquired into the case and charged the accused with premeditated murder and attempted, terror and passion of explosives and illegal protests to subvert public order.
The five accused who will stand trial confessed to the crimes which were corroborated by witnesses.
The coroner conducted a post mortem autopsy and concluded that the death resulted from severe burns.
