Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa Award for Service to Humanity, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa during speech expressed his pride in chairing the board of trustees of the Shaikh Isa Award for Service to Humanity, which was initiated by HM the King in memory of the late Amir of the Kingdom of Bahrain, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, so as to remember his sincere and outstanding efforts in serving humanity.
Shaikh Mohammed added that the late Amir had accomplished great achievements for humanity in Bahrain and established kind relations with everybody, pointing out that the Former U.S. President Bill Clinton described him as the friend of peace, and the Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan called him the supporter of regional and world’s stability for years.
Shaikh Mohammed affirmed the great contribution of the late Amir in the political, economic and social fields for 4 decades, during which he worked with his brother HRH the Prime Minister on developing Bahrain’s human resources, economic progress, international relations and social welfare.
Shaikh Mohammed asserted that through winning the award, Dr. Jameela Mahmood reflects the appreciation toward women’s essential humanitarian role in the world, congratulating her and wishing her further success. He also expressed his sincere thanks to the Royal Charity Organization (RCO), members of the board of trustees, General Secretariat, nominating and arbitral committees, as well as all parties who supported and positively contributed in the success of this noble humanitarian work.
Then, a documentary on the life of Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa was presented regarding his work in charity and humanitarian relief. After that, the Head of the award’s nomination committee Professor Jan Paulson made a speech during which he said that it was an honor for him to preside on the nominating committee.
He also asserted that the award is a wonderful initiative which enabled him to contribute to the promotion of its philanthropic objectives. He added that the first meeting of the committee took place in Manama 2010 and was followed by a number of meetings in London, pointing out that the members interacted with philanthropic foundations and non-governmental institutions to identify sources of information about possible recipients of the award.
