A woman whose husband is in detention has been taken in police custody pending investigation.
The suspect is accused of insulting a policewoman and kicking her in the abdomen whilst on duty at Budaiya police station, Northern Chief Prosecutor Nawaf Al-Awadhi said.
The woman officer, who is pregnant, had been transferred to the hospital for medical treatment as her health deteriorated following the assault.
The officer, ranked first-lieutenant, was insulted and assaulted physically as she approached the woman along with two other policewomen in an attempt to appease her but it was to no avail.
The Public Prosecution interrogated the accused and ordered her to be held in custody pending investigation.
It also gave orders for a thorough medical report into the officer’s health situation to be submitted and witnesses to be heard.
The Public Prosecution also referred the accused to the coroner to see whether she had been assaulted for the sake of truth, although she showed no visible traces while being questioned.
