A five year strategy to revamp and redefine the media in the Kingdom of Bahrain will help to raise the level of media sector new height of excellence, the State Minister for Information Affairs Ms Sameera Rajab revealed on Sunday.
“This is first time in the history of the Kingdom that a strategy being rolled out to revamp the existing structure and working of the media as part of a five year strategy,” Ms Rajab told the journalists during the weekly briefing.
The Minister, however, did not comment on the pros and cons of the proposed strategy and said that the draft was referred to the Ministerial committee to review and submit the recommendations, if any.
On the question of new laws with regard to media she said that the new law would be implemented after the legislature approves it.
The Cabinet discussed the media strategy for the period of 2013-2018 that was submitted in a memorandum by the Minister of State for Information, and decided to forward it to the Ministerial Committee for Social Services, Media, Transportation and Telecommunications.
“The media strategy aims to enhance the media infrastructure and improve the institutional potentials for this sector that will ensure the continuity of developing the Bahraini media scene in various aspects,” the Minister added.
