The Kingdom of Bahrain continues to be a strong job market with showing 6.8% increase in jobs in Q1 of 2013 compared with Q1 2012, thanks to the strong economic indicators, according to the Labour Minister.
Labour Minister Jameel Humaidan and Chairman of the LMRA Board, who joined the State Minister for Information Sameera Rajab during the weekly Cabinet media briefing, said the employment for Bahrainis also witnessed an increase 3.6% in the first quarter.
The Cabinet reviewed several labor indicators that monitor the growth of the Labor Market and reflect its condition in a report submitted by the Minister of Labour, Chairman of the Board of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA).
The report showed a 6.8% increase in employment in both public and private sector between the first quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013 (increasing the total number of employees to 648,000), of which 23% are Bahrainis. Employment of Bahraini Nationals increased by 3.6% during that period, whereas expatriate employment increased by 7.7%.
The first quarter of 2013 witnessed 1219 National first-time employees into the job market. During the same period the median wage in the private sector increased to 508 Bahraini Dinars/month; and the number of national employees receiving less than 250 Bahraini Dinars/month in the private sector decreased to 16%.
