The Bahrain Petroleum Company’s (Bapco) Major Maintenance Section, Maintenance Division has set a new benchmark in the first half of 2013, achieving great success in its various undertaken projects. The Section successfully achieved the Replacement of 1950 feet length of piping of No.11 Sea-line from Wharf to New Island Wharf in the sub-sea section.
In addition, the Major Maintenance Section could timely complete repair work on 24 unit rundown lines of the FCCU Complex in order to meet the 2013 FCCU Complex T&I Shutdown Schedule. Several projects were also carried out for the first time and completed successfully on time in the Gas Distribution Network (GDN), some of them being the replacement of two 12-inch underground Gas lines (each 250 metre length) along with the enhancement of safety by adding a new Cathodic Protection (CP) system in GDN from Riffa Distribution Point (RDP) to customer Riffa Power Station (RPS).
Corroded sections of pipelines in several locations (WVS, HRS, BMS, and ADP) of the GDN were also successfully coated to protect the pipes from thinning and subsequently leaking. Further, the Major Maintenance Section assisted RED in Phase 2 of the intelligent pigging of gas pipelines. Importantly, the cleaning of No.3 inlet flume from LLPH to HLPH was completed in 25 days, well ahead of the scheduled time. Finally, the Section also assisted OS&E in the hydrostatic test of AB Pipelines, which was completed on time, rounding off the various progressive achievements made by the Major Maintenance Section.
