The Minister of Foreign Affairs Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa on Sunday reiterated GCC concerns over the nuclear proliferation and safety of nuclear reactors of Iran.
“GCC is not only concerned about the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant but we are also concerned about all other facilities being used by Iran,” Shaikh Khalid told a Press conference on Sunday.
“We are deeply concerned by the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in the region, without strict controls. We therefore urge Iran to adhere to the principle of transparency, to fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) regarding its nuclear programme, and to fully comply with relevant safety and security standards of their nuclear facilities as part of its responsibility for the safety of these facilities, taking into account the safety of the environment and the people of the wider Arabian Gulf,” Shaikh Khalid said.
