The Conference also considered HM the King’s initiative as a pioneering project to develop and reinforce human rights, as it is a necessary legal mechanism, which supports human rights system in the framework of the League of Arab States.
The conference, which ended its works lately in the Qatari capital city, Doha, recommended to expand the powers of the court, making its decisions compulsory, ensure impartiality and independence standards in its formation, and provide it with all the financial and administrative capabilities, in line with the best regional and international practices. The conference also recommended the need for the Arab Court for Human Rights, to depend in its work on the Arab regional charters and international conventions for human rights, and involve the civil society organizations in the development of the main system of the Arab Court for Human Rights.
It’s worth mentioning that the Secretary General of the National Foundation for Human Rights, Chancellor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Farhan has presented during his participation in the conference, a working paper on (the establishment of an Arab Court for Human Rights), where he highlighted the initiative of HM the King to establish the Court, and it was considered unprecedented initiative at the Arab World level, and which also adds a new dimension for the Arab Action.
Meanwhile, the Conference recommended developing the Arab Charter for Human Rights for the year 2004 and to include a clear text on the basic principles of human rights.
