The horrific traffic accident which involved ten vehicles and claimed lives of two young Bahraini women has prompted new concerns among the authorities to review and put in place the best safety on the roads in Bahrain.
His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa during the Cabinet Weekly meeting issued directives to the Ministries of Interior and Works to submit a detailed report on the accident.
Thursday’s pileup accident involved the side barrier at Seef Bridge which collapsed when one of the cars hit it and resulted in two deaths.
“The report will be submitted to the Ministerial Committee for further action,” the Minister for State for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab during the weekly Cabinet briefing told the media.
“Bahrain has witnessed tremendous development in infrastructure development and there is a need to review and upgrade, if needed, the existing safety standards including on the bridges,” the Minister, adding the Government of Bahrain would continue to upgrade safety standards, including the roads, to ensure the safety of commuters.
