His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister received Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister for the State of Kerala, India at Riffa Palace.
During their meeting His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of boosting bilateral business and economic cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the state of Kerala, and India more widely, highlighting the important role of both government entities and the private sector in pushing this forward.
His Royal Highness noted the strong relations between Bahrain and both the state of Kerala and with India as a whole, and expressed his appreciation for the contribution that the 300,000 strong Indian communities makes to Bahrain, noting that the majority of these hail from the state of Kerala.
Referring to his visit to Kerala earlier in the year, His Royal Highness once again thanked the Chief Minister for the kind hospitality he received, and expressed his wish to see more such visits between officials of both countries in order to further boost bilateral cooperation.
His Royal Highness noted India’s strong position as a role model of respect and tolerance of all backgrounds, regardless of the diverse ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
On behalf of Kerala, the Chief Minister thanked His Royal Highness for his kind words, and reiterated his interest in boosting business and economic cooperation with Bahrain. The Chief Minister also praised His Royal Highness for his historic visit to Kerala, the first of its kind by a senior GCC dignitary. He also thanked Bahrain for its cooperation, and its interest in boosting relations with India, and with Kerala in particular.
