highlighted the Government’s efforts to promote the role of media in disseminating awareness and instill constructive culture and foster the values of amity, cooperation and mutual respect.
The Minister made these remarks as she received Bahrain Writers’ Association Chairman, first deputy president of the Arab Writers’ Union Ibrahim Buhindi and his deputy Dr. Alawi Al-Hashemi.
She affirmed the Government’s drive to promote intellectual and creative works in line with the 2013-2018 media strategy.
The minister urged media and intellectual figures to exchange ideas and opinions to anchor the culture of democratic and civilized dialogue, peaceful expression of opinion and the consolidation of national unity and joint human values between citizens.
“Cultural artistic and literary works have achieved an unprecedented level of creativity and freedom in the political and democratic openness prevailing in Bahrain”, she said.
She cited the selection of Manama to be Capital of Arab Media 2013-2014, Capital of Arab Tourism 2013, revealing plans to set up a state of the art city for artistic and cinematic production.
Bahrain Writers’ Association Chairman thanked the minister for her warm welcome, hailed Bahrain’s audio-visual media for covering all cultural and literary functions and promoting them in the Kingdom and abroad.
