The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) delegation took part at the Ninth annual meeting of Arab National Institutions Association for Human Rights (ANIAHR) in the Moroccan Capital Rabat, which is organized by the National Council for Human Rights with the participation of representatives of a number of Arab national institutions, in addition to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Bahraini delegation consists of Chairperson of the Civil and Political Rights Committee, Jamila Salman Nassif, Committee member, Farid Ghazi Rafea’ and Secretary General Advisor Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al-Farhan.
The first day of the two-day meeting discussed (the Arab region’s transitional justice), where participants discussed the experience of Morocco, Tunisia and Libya, as well as the young experiences have emerged in the Arab world in the field of transitional justice, as well as the exchange of experiences in the area of national reconciliation and democratic transformation.
The second day is scheduled to discuss the report on the work of the Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights, and to enter amendments necessary to some articles of its Statute, in addition to discussing the draft paper on the network’s interior system.
It was decided, in the seventh session of the Arab National Institutions for Human Rights, held in Nouakchott in April of 2011, the establishment of the Arab Network of National Institutions for Human Rights, which aims at bolstering and protecting human rights in accordance with regional and international conventions.
The Arab network consists of all national institutions for human rights in the 15 Arab countries, was established in line with the Paris Principles governing the National Institutions for Human Rights.
