The security forces in Bahrain have confirmed the arrest of alleged gang of 10 suspects of Bani Jamra attack during an operation in the close proximity of the blast.
The police also confirmed that the house where arrests were made and arms and ammunition was recovered was in fact a terrorists’ hideout and allegedly being used by the conspirators for planning and execution of terror acts.
After the terror blast in Bani Jamra on Wednesday night, investigators rushed to the scene. It was discovered that a group of rioters had burned tyres at the entrance of the village at around 10:30pm.
After police restored order, a security patrol proceeded, on foot, to extinguish the flames and clear the roads. It was then that a homemade bomb was remotely detonated. One officer’s leg had to be amputated as a result of the blast and two others received serious injuries. Four additional officers sustained lesser injuries that also required medical care.
The joint security team worked quickly to identify and arrest 10 suspects who were located in a house known to be used by conspirators for the planning of terrorist acts. Weapons and equipment were also seized from the location.
Some of the arrestees confessed their terrorism crimes and they are Mohammed Ali Ahmed, 23, Mohammed Jaffar Mohammed Mahdi, 18 years, Ali Ahmed Ibrahim Ali, 19 and Hussain Ali Mohammed Fardan, 19.
Bani Jamra is considered to be the base of the Shirazi movement, which is a coup d’etat movement supported by Iran. The February 14th terrorist group is an extension of this movement. Locations within the village have been used to store weapons and to plan terrorism attacks. Automatic weapons have also been used against the police in this area as have homemade guns and explosive devices.
The lives of the residents of Bani Jamra are often negatively affected by these terrorist operations.
On May 24, Ridha Abdullah Al Ghasra, who was wanted on a variety of terrorist-related charges, was arrested in Bani Jamra. Al Ghasra had a gun and live ammunition in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Al Ghasra has a history of terrorist-related activities and is wanted on charges involving the explosion of a car at the Bahrain Financial Harbour on April 14.
Another resident of Bani Jamra, Ahmed Abdulraouf Jaffar, was arrested on weapons charges including the possession of a homemade gun and ammunition used for a Kalashnikov.
The arrestees have provided investigators with information relating to terrorist activities in Bani Jamra. Security procedures are on going to ensure the safety of the public and that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice. Policemen continue to perform their duties to discover dangerous terrorism acts that are condemned by all.
