An attempt to smuggle 3 tons of shrimps via King Fahd Causeway has been foiled.
The Directorate of Agricultural Affairs Marine Resources teamed up with the Coastguards and the Customs Directorate to thwart the smuggling operation.
Legal against was taken against the violators who will be referred to the Public Prosecution to face charges under the law on protecting marine resources.
The Directorate of Marine Resources will also take administrative measures against the smugglers. The fishing permits may be frozen pending the penal cases lodged against the violators. The Directorate of Agricultural Affairs Marine Resources and the Coastguards have been working together to crackdown down on other violators in the past few days.
