The Minister of Health, Sadiq Abdul-Karim Al-Shehabi, stated that Ministry of Health has prepared a plan to deal with potential infection of Coronavirus during Hajj season 1434H. The plan includes pre-hajj preparations, for instance organizing a seminar about the virus for doctors, nurses, and paramedics accompanying Hajj contractors.
Moreover, the pre-hajj plan includes an educational media campaign which focuses on the prevention of respiratory transmitted diseases. Brochures on seasonal flue and Coronavirus will be distributed all over health facilities in the Kingdom to Hajj pilgrims; as well as posting stickers and instructions on influenza prevention methods, in general. The plan also ensures the taking of pre-Hajj vaccinations for influenza.
The Minister of Health pointed out that efforts would continue during Hajj season which include protocols in Bahraini Ministry of Health’s clinics at the holy shrines in Mecca, Mina and Arafat. Moreover, the protocols would be compulsory for all hajj contractors and therefore will be an essential criterion in evaluating each contractor’s services. Bahrain Hajj Mission assures that rules are in place to boost health awareness and preventive measures. Furthermore, suspected cases of respiratory infections and Coronavirus should be examined and referred to one of Bahrain Hajj Mission’s clinics, or a local hospital thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ government.
The Minister of Health advised would-be hajj pilgrims the essential need to postpone their intended Hajj pilgrim this year especially elderly people, pregnant women, children and chronically sick patients who are more vulnerable to flue and other contagious ailments.
“If we all cooperate together, we could eliminate the spreading of contagious infections among our beloved citizens and expatriates.” The Minister also emphasized that the Ministry is ready to cooperate with all hajj pilgrims to protect their health.
