The spirit of giving and family values will be highlighted this Ramadan at Bahrain City Centre. Four initiatives will roll out to stress on the value of giving and cultivating family togetherness during the Holy Month including: ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’, The City Barasti, Lewan Ramadan and Gergaoun.
The ‘Make-A-Difference this Ramadan’ is a region wide campaign of Majid Al Futtaim Properties, which has been supported by Bahrain City Centre since 2010. A large donation box will be available at the Customer Service desk, where shoppers can donate used clothes, non-perishable food, books, and eyeglasses. All contributions will be then given to Al Noor Charity Welfare that provides assistance to the needy and support various humanitarian causes in the local community. Last year, more than 6,000 donation bags were collected.
Bahrain City Centre is hosting two special activity stations: The City Barasti – two hospitality stations with traditional activities and entertainment; and Lewan Ramadan – a cultural village dedicated to sharing Islamic values and education in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and VIVA jusoor. The City Barasti, located on the Ground Floor in front of Debenhams and Lakeland, will feature traditional activities and entertainment such as a falcon display, henna painting, Arabic calligraphy and live Oud performances. Timings are every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:30pm – midnight, and daily for the final 10 days of Ramadan. Additionally, the Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel will be hosting a live chef demo at The City Barasti on July 12-13th and July 25-26th from 9:00pm-10:00pm. Lewan Ramadan, hosted in the Central Galleria invites families to experience activities such as reading Islamic educational & historical books; E-learning; Islamic documentaries; traditional games and Puppet shows every day throughout the Holy Month from 9:30pm to midnight.
Celebrating a Bahraini custom recognised midway through the Holy Month, Bahrain City Centre will host Gergaoun festive activities on July 21st. Adding a twist to the tradition, children dressed in traditional clothes will receive small Gergaoun gifts and roam around the mall along with the traditional Bahraini band.
“Spreading the true essence of Ramadan is what Majid Al Futtaim Properties focuses on for the activities of the Holy Month,” Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, Senior Mall Manager at Bahrain City Centre said.
“Through our family-themed activities, we wish to keep the spirit of solidarity, compassion and solidarity that will create an impact to the community. Our efforts to reiterate the principles that are taught in Islam underline our commitment for being a socially-responsible organisation.”
During Ramadan, the mall hours will extend until 1am during weekdays and until 2am during the last 10 days of Ramadan. In addition, Ramadan-themed decorations will adorn the mall to add to the festive mood.
