The 3rd surveillance audit post the ISO 14001 re-certification was successfully carried out at Bapco. The three-day audit was conducted by Bureau Veritas (BV) who has been carrying the six monthly surveillance audits since 2009 when Bapco was first awarded the ISO14001 certification.
The purpose of the surveillance audit was to verify continued implementation and adherence to all requirements specified within ISO 14001:2004 standards. The audit was conducted on North Process, South Process, RGDP, Plant Maintenance, Workshops, OS&E, Sitra Tank Farm, Refinery Tank Farm and Wharf, QAD-IMS Internal Audit System and Environmental Affairs. The closing meeting was attended by Khalid Sabbagh, Bapco’s Acting DCE Refining and Marketing, members of the Management, Environmental Management System EMS Focal Points and members of Environmental Affairs. The audit report showed that the evidences gathered during the audit confirmed that EMS has been effectively implemented and, maintained and meets all requirements of ISO 14001. The report recommended the continued certification of Bapco EMS to globally recognised ISO14001:2004 standard.
Khalid Sabbagh congratulated all on the recommendation for continued certification to EMS ISO 14001 and stated that external audits are an effective tool to identify improvements which can be made to our systems. He thanked Bureau Veritas officials for their dedicated efforts in conducting the surveillance audit. Al Sabbagh also thanked all departments and EMS Focal Points for their continued efforts towards EMS programme.
