The GCC Interior Ministries’ Undersecretaries who met in Riyadh on Thursday at the GCC General Secretariat Headquarters discussed a joint strategy against Hezbollah network.
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s Interior Ministry Undersecretary, Major-General Khalid bin Salim Al-Absi who chaired the meeting, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the participants, and said that the resolution passed by the 127th GCC Ministerial Council dated 2nd June 2013, regarding the taking of actions against GCC-based vassals of Hezbollah – a terrorist organization which is ideologically-linked to Iran – regarding their residence, business and financial transactions after unraveling Hezbollah-affiliated terrorist cells who were implicated in supporting and training other terrorist groups as well active espionage and backing terrorist operations against GCC countries and Hezbolla’s blatant intervention in Syria.
Major-General Al-Absi added that this meeting comes reliant upon directives from their Highnesses and their Excellency GCC Ministers of Interior regarding setting up appropriate mechanisms to implement the Council’s resolution, pointing out that the Kingdom of Bahrain is currently coordinating with the relevant authorities in order to set up an integrated mechanism vis-a-vis this resolution and working to unravel cells connected with Hezbollah and to monitor funds movement.
Afterwards, the Assistant Secretary General for Security Affairs in the GCC General Secretariat, Colonel Hazza’ Mubarak Al-Hajri delivered a speech in which he explained that the GCC General Secretariat extended the invitation for this meeting reliant upon a working paper presented by the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, during the 14th GCC Interior Ministers’ Consultative Meeting held in Manama on 23th April 2013 and in compliance with GCC resolution to study means capable of taking actions against Hezbollah-linked persons in the GCC countries and to set up suitable mechanisms for implementing the resolution in coordination with other relevant authorities.
