Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry organised, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, at Ahmed Al Fateh Islamic Centre on Sunday evening the concluding ceremony of the 18th Bahrain Grand Holy Quran Recitation and Explanation Contest.
The ceremony was attended by President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Islamic Affairs Undersecretary Dr. Farid bin Yaqoob Al Meftah, officials, ambassadors, religious scholars and clerics, citizens and residents in Bahrain.
Shaikh Abdullah said in a speech that honouring the winners of the competition underlines anew commitment to serving the Holy Quran and contributing to teaching it and its sciences.
He added that the ceremony came days after choosing His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa by the International Institute for the Memorisation of the Holy Quran in Saudi Arabia as the “Personality of the Year”, in tribute to his efforts in serving Islam and Muslims as well as serving the Holy Quran, describing that as a badge of honour that has to be built on.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to HM the King as well as thanks and respect to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, wishing them continuous good health and more security to Bahrain.
The audience watched a documentary spotlighting the Quranic march in Bahrain. Then, they listened to a recitation by Egyptian Shaikh Abdulkarim Al-Ghitani. After that, Shaikh Abdullah inaugurated the second phase of the electronic management system of Quranic centres under the theme “Ayat”. Then, he, alongside the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister and Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, honoured the contestants, the participating parties and the jury.
