The Speaker of the Council of Representatives welcomed the Interior Minister and the accompanying delegation, where the minister briefed the MPs on the latest developments on the security arena, particularly after the terrorist bombing which occurred in front of Shaikh Isa Mosques in Riffa during the time the worshippers were performing Taraweeh prayers.
The Minister highlighted that the terrorist bombing was contrary to legislation, law and humanity, and in the framework of the planned terrorist acts which are alien to the people of Bahrain, and strange to their morals, and genuine values, stressing that he will disclose, by God willing, all the circumstances related to the terrorist bombing.
The Minister said that they all follow the wise directives of His Majesty the King to protect homeland, and reinforce its security and stability, which are always implemented, highlighting that the law rules over all and will punish those who violate it either by incitement or support such acts.
The Minister said that strengthening security measures is imperative to confront acts of terrorism and confronting the terrorists and those who abuse and instigators, stressing that the security action is based on coordination and cooperation with their partners inside Bahrain, and with brothers in the region, which provides the necessary depth to accommodate different situations and challenges.
Shaikh Rashid highlighted the importance of the differentiation between the freedom of expression and incitement for terrorism and violence, calling on a clear and frank stance in condemning the terrorist acts. Shaikh Rashid also praised the national stance of the citizens supporting the security men, which reinforces the importance of strengthening the internal front, and consolidating the feeling of national responsibility in protecting the security and safety of the dear homeland.
Then, the Council was briefed on the efforts of the Ministry of Interior to enforce the application of law and pursuit the terrorists, instigators and their supporters. He also stressed that the ministry is working in this regard in the framework of an integrated security plan, based on study, and assessment of security situation, highlighting that by God’s blessing, they accomplished great achievements through the detection of pre-emptive operations.
Minister of Interior stressed the role of the MPs as being partners in bearing the national responsibility through their concern and follow up of all the issues related to the safety of homeland, and the citizens as well as coordination and cooperation in all the efforts, and the support of the national projects and programmes that achieve security and stability. Shaikh Rashid also called the national legislation to be deterrent to the acts of violence and terrorism.
The speaker and MPs of the Council of Representatives called on strengthening the feeling of security of citizens and residents, and addressing any issue that may harm the civil peace. They also thanked and appreciated the efforts of the Interior Ministry in preserving security, stability and enforcing law and discipline, lauding the efforts of the security men in protecting citizens and preserving their security and safety. They also renewed their commitment to continue their cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, and the importance of developing the legislation in dealing with the next phase, and achieving the welfare and interests of the country.
