The Government of Bahrain has branded the explosion of a booby-trapped car in the parking of the Shaikh Isa Mosque in Riffa during Al-Taraweeh Prayers as a clear act of terrorism that is prohibited by local and international laws, and a cowardly crime aiming to spread terror among the citizens and expatriates and put national security at risk.
In an official statement issued by the Minister of State for Information Affairs and the Government’s Official Spokesperson Samira Ibrahim bin Rajab, the government said that targeting the houses of worship in such a holy month is a disgraceful terrorist act aiming to undermine national unity, sow sectarian sedition, spread chaos and disrupt security and public order.
Such a shameful terrorist crime is alien to the genuine values of the people of Bahrain, and aims to create chaos and sabotage through targeting the security of kingdom, and safety of the citizens and residents, the statement added.
The Government of Bahrain said that such a terrorist crime is strongly denounced by official and popular sides in the country, pledging to face it with the relevant local and international anti-terrorism laws.
