With Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) achieves its goals set for the first half of this year, the United State of America tops the ladder with receiving 31% of the GPIC exports during the first six months of the year, a top official at GPIC revealed.
Abdulrahman Jawahery GPIC President in a statement expressed his satisfaction with the achievements made by the company during the first half of the current year, one which is packed with challenges to be faced by the company having revised developed many of its administrative tactics to cope with the developments taking place in the industrial sector.
“While awaiting approval for expansion, the company completed the largest comprehensive maintenance of its plant equipment in the history of the company, which was accomplished in a timely manner and according to plan, while the company continued to meet its obligations to its customers,” he added.
The President said that export operations have flowed at full pace and without any obstacles, according to the marketing plan and contractual obligations associated with the company, with the company’s total exports of Ammonia, Urea and Methanol exceeding that planned by 3 per cent. Thirty four ships have carried these exports, with the United States accounting for the largest share of the company’s exports at 31per cent, followed by China with 19 per cent and Thailand with 16 per cent. “For the first time in its history, GPIC achieved a sale of 19,660 tons of fertilizers to the Republic of Uruguay, in the month of April 2013.”
“GPIC has again achieved the goals laid down for the first half of the year in the areas of production, export and safety, environmental and administrative systems, thanks to the full commitment shown by the staff of the company and all its affiliates, including the great fidelity the staff have shown in the performance of their responsibilities,” he said.
“During the same period, the winning of a number of awards has distinguished the company’s level of performance, and its ability to achieve sustainable development with regard to both commercial activities and community responsibilities.”
Jawahery expressed his deep happiness at the outstanding achievements of the company in the areas of occupational safety, the most prominent achievement being that of 4,317 working days with no lost time accident, equivalent to more than 15.5 million man hours. Here, the challenge is not just to focus on the figures achieved, but to establish the keenness of the company to maintain the safety and integrity of the employees, who are considered the backbone of the sustainable development of its activities and its work, whether in the present or the future.
Jawahery celebrated everything achieved in the field of innovation and excellence, both his own triumph in winning personally the shield of excellence from the Ministry of Labour as the best industrial leader for the year 2012 and the company obtaining the Award of Excellence from e-government for the year 2013 in the field of e-learning. This is a testament to the company’s ambition in seeking to create a healthy work environment that gives employees great motivation and encourages them to make efforts for the advancement of organisation.
Jawahery concluded by stressing that all these achievements would not be possible without the permanent and persistent backing of the company’s board of directors, chaired by H.E Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and his fellow distinguished board members, as well as the utmost dedication shown by all the members of the executive management and employees of the company alike, who are doing their best to maintain the excellence of the company and its prestigious position among other global companies.
In a significant milestone achievement for the company was celebrated recently when the ship “Stolt Sneland,” carrying 6,193 tons of Methanol sailed for the United States as the 2000th vessel to ship export products since production began in 1985.
In spite of all the challenges faced by the GPIC as a result of rapid changes taking place in the continental and global markets, especially those relating to the balance of supply and demand and in addition to the intense competition it faces, the company’s collaboration with its partners in Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) authorized to market methanol and Petrochemical Industries Company of Kuwait authorized to market Ammonia and Urea, means that GPIC has been able to export all its products and achieve attractive returns from sales, as well carry safe levels of stocks in storage, being thus able to guarantee no interruption or reduction in production rates.
