Taking their soccer development to a new level, VIVA footballers attended training workshops which focused on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social elements of the game and follows the fundamental elements of Manchester United coaching philosophy. Moreover, VIVA players learnt one of the most important techniques in football, to control, pass and maneuver the football as the First team does.
At the Manchester United Soccer Schools training camp at Salford Red stadium, VIVA footballers attended a session on ‘Dominating 1v1’ situations to master a range of tricks and turns and develop an awareness of when and where to use them (like the 1st team players Nani, Giggs & Kagawa). The players were also put through a training drill of ‘Explosive Play’ session to learn a range of football specific movements which emphasizes on certain aspects such as strength, speed and power to maximize performance on the pitch (like Valencia & Carrick).
Towards the end of day two training, six VIVA players were awarded with Manchester United Soccer Schools pin badges, with two players, Phoebe Licence and Ali Al Ghattam recognized for their overall performance in two workshops, while four others, Ali Marhoon, Ali Isa Ebrahim, Kumail and Thomas Noble were rewarded for their performances in individual workshops.
“I am extremely happy to be here and thrilled to be one of the select few to be recognized for my hard work in training sessions. This proves I was worthy of securing a lifetime opportunity of training at one of the best football camps in the world. I hope to effectively use and pass on the techniques I acquire here to my fellow players back home at the Riffa club,” Ali Al Ghattam, recipient of one of the Manchester United Soccer Schools pin badges said.
