The Jury Committee of Bahrain eContent Award 2013, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) and organized by Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) in collaboration with Bahrain E-Government Authority (EGA) has completed its evaluation of eContent projects presented to the Award by the private and public sectors and individual participants while results will be announced at a later date.
“The Jury Committee of Bahrain eContent Award 2013 formed of 12 judges, continued working for 5 consecutive days to inspect, evaluate and determine the best practices in all eContent projects in Bahrain that were received from the private and public sectors and individual participants. It was noted that there was a regression in the rate of the public sector’s participation this year in comparison to the private sector and a clear competition on the level of individual participations was recorded, thus showing clear rise in comparison to last year’s,” the Chairman of the Bahrain eContent Award 2013 Organizing Committee and BIS President, Nawaf Abdulrahman said.
The Bahrain eContent Award 2013 jury committee comprised an elite of experienced and specialized judges in the field of eContent from the different sectors and they are Essam Hadi; IT Manager, Aluminium Bahrain BSC, Dr. Mazen Mohamed Ahmed Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Systems, IT College, University of Bahrain, Ali Bishara; Regional Expert in Evaluating e-Initiatives, Khalifa Ahmed Al Shakar; IT Manager, Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Jamal Ahmed Al-Khayyat; Vice President, Gulf International Bank (GIB), Khalid Al-Thawadi; CEO, Digital Wave and Digital Wave Media and Lecturer, Arab Open University, Adel Maymoon; Founder and CEO, Tawasul Al-Khaleej for Social Media Consultancy and management, Dr. Nawaf Al-Moayyed; Technical Director, Al-Moayyed Group, Ahmed Bu Qais; Senior Associate-Information Security and Compliance Officer, Ethamaar Bank, Abdulla Al-Hamed; CEO & Executive Director, Investate Group several national initiatives, including establishing the Business Directory of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Bank Consultancies and a member of the group of experts working in the e-government survey 2014, Ms. Hana Omar Abdul-Aziz; Head, e-Learning Systems Development, His Majesty King Hamad Schools of the Future Project – Ministry of Education and holds a Master Degree in IT and Computer Science, and finally and Srikant Ranganathan, President SYZYGY Consulting LTD., specialized in IT consulting.
Abdulrahman indicated that this award with its results comes to pave the way for Bahrain to participate in the World Summit Award (WSA) as it presents part of the bigger event. It also comes to confirm the BIS’ commitment and initiatives towards enforcing and encouraging innovation, as well as supporting Bahraini innovators and developers in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) and internet.
Abdul-Rahman commended the support and assistance provided by the team of the World Summit Award (WSA), represented by Professor Peter Brook, consultant and member of the Bahrain eContent Award 2013 Organizing Committee for, as well as observers Alexander Felsenberg and Jak Boumans in the evaluation process and Gerald Henzinger, Learning Specialist from Knowledge Fox Company who provided technical support for the Jury. Mr. Abdul-Rahman explained the evaluation process with some detail: “The evaluation process went smoothly with judges demonstrating high professionalism in their evaluation while applying international standards in evaluating all e-content projects submitted by the public and private sectors with strong competition indicated between individual projects.”
“As for the evaluation’s final results and names of winners, God willing, they will be announced after the holy month of Ramadan,” Abdul-Rahman, added.
