Bahrain should adopt a zero- tolerance policy to criminalize terrorist and other violent acts that has affected the social fabric of its society.
The Minister of State for Information Affairs and official government spokeswoman Sameera Rajab highlighted this during the extraordinary parliament session.
”It is imperative for everyone to stand united against violence and terrorism immediately.”
“The perpetrators want to drag the Bahrain society to a civil war.”
Ms Rajab said citizens and residents should stop the “cancer,” referring to terrorism as spreading disease.
She further told MPs that social and electronic media were being used to incite violence to fulfill the foreign agenda of some groups.
The Minister said that law enforcement is the key to counter terrorism, which is the government’s top priority.
“This is because it is a threat to civil peace, national unity and social stability.”
Ms Rajab said the extraordinary session of the National Assembly comes at a critical time when there is escalation of violence.
“Bahrain will continue to support constitutional rights, public freedom in accordance with conventions and treaties it is signatory to.”
Ms Rajab said the need for the hour is to penalise those who incite violence including on the social media.
