Aluminium Bahrain (Alba)’s celebrations for the Holy Month of Ramadan touched new heights of excitement as the month-long Ramadan Sports Tournament concluded with finals for the Basketball, Football and Volleyball matches.
More than 25 teams representing a cross section of departments had taken part in the month-long tournament that were organised by the Alba Club with the support of the Alba Executive Team and the Alba Labour Union.
Metallurgy was the winner of the volleyball finals with a 2-0 victory over the Carbon Team. The football finals between Reduction Lines 1-3 A and Casthouse B resulted in a 4-0 score with the Reduction Lines Team picking up the winners’ cup. Basketball finals gave the Casthouse Team another clear victory over the Power Team with a 37-23 score.
The winning teams were presented with awards at a ghabga ceremony held at the Alba Club on Monday, August 5, 2013. Present at the ceremony was Chief Operating Officer, Isa Al Ansari, Chief Marketing Officer, Jean Baptiste Lucas, Acting Administration Director, Abdul Rahman Janahi, Chairman of Alba’s Labour Union, Ali Bin Ali and other company officials.
“The inter-departmental sports tournament has become an annual event during the holy month of Ramadan, and has proved to be hugely popular with employees. It has not only served to foster greater team spirit amongst employees but has also provided opportunity to continue the tradition for greater social interactions during this holy month. I would also take this time to congratulate each and every team for participating in the tournament and making it such a success. However, special praise goes to the winning teams for a fantastic performance and a well-deserved victory,” Alba’s Chief Operating Officer, Isa Al Ansari said.
The Ramadan Inter-Departmental Sports Tournament took place from July 12 to August 7, 2013 at the Alba Club. Matches were held in the evenings and witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees in cheering their favourite team.
