The General Directorate of Central Governorate Police announced that the Explosive Detection Team defused a homemade bomb near a gate of a company in industrial Sitra.
He said that police received a call from the security guard of the company reporting that he saw two masked men exit a vehicle parked near the gate. The caller reported seeing the men place an object near the gate before fleeing the scene.
The Explosive Detection Team was deployed and determined that the object was a homemade bomb made with a mobile phone, wire, metal shrapnel, a gas cylinder and two petrol tanks. The Team successfully defused the bomb.
The General Director said that police collected forensic evidence from the scene and notified the Public Prosecution. The investigation continues to identify the suspects and bring them to justice. Citizens and residents are asked not to approach or touch any suspicious object and report it to 999.
